I would switch over to the bridge PUP for some solos.

But most of the Trower band clips I was using the neck single coil most of the time. I keep going back to that as that is MY tone for anything on the heavier side.

So I am wondering if the serial number gives you the neck profile and radius specs?Ĭlick to expand. My main Super Strat (which is in all the vid/sound clips I have posted on the forum) has had a Carvin M22SD in the bridge since the late 90's. It seems to have that "it" factor, even though I am not a single coil in the bridge kind of guy. I played it for the last half of our jam today and actually got attached to it. If it was a 22 fret it would be a done deal. Big bummer is it is a 21 fret maple neck which I already have many of. And the pickup covers and knobs have more of a vintage cream color. Does not fit with the tobacco burst too well to my eyes. But a deep red with black marble looking swirl. But the pickguard actually does not look like it might be original to the guitar. I just read some info telling me this is a 2005/2006 aprox build. I am getting ready to measure the body thickness and see if I can peek under the pickguard to make sure it will take a bridge humbucker. It is a tobacco burst, which I have been wanting. Should not be spending money right now, but then I am sure all the rest of you reading this would be doing the same thing as well. I brought home this Mexican Strat that my bass player is selling for $200.
